WRITING your PERSONAL testimony

WRITING YOUR PERSONAL Testimony
borrowed from Dough Fields
======================================

This is sharing how your relationship with Jesus has impacted your life.

What is a Testimony?
When we commit ourselves to Jesus, a change takes place in our lives.
This changed-life story is what is known as a testimony.
“Testimony” means sharing how your relationship with Jesus has impacted your life. The Bible tells us that when we become Christians our “old” self is put in the past and that we are made new because of Christ. The process of being “made new” is what a testimony reveals.

Testimony comes from the word testify. You might recognize this term as something that a witness in a court might give – they “testify” as to what they know or what they saw. When you share about what Christ has done in your life you are testifying to His presence.

Telling the story of Christ in your life is part of reaching out to others by telling them about God. You don’t need to be a Super-Christian to give your testimony, and your story doesn’t need to be flashy or dramatic; you only need to have a desire to tell others about God in your life and a commitment to living God’s way.

Are you thinking about giving your testimony?

If you’re thinking about sharing with the high school ministry how Christ has impacted your life, we would like to congratulate you. We think it’s incredible that you are thinking about sharing how God has worked in your life. Just picking up this sheet takes a great deal of courage – we’re proud of you!!! We want to give you the tools that you need to make giving your testimony a successful and meaningful experience. Attached to this letter is a tool designed to make this as easy as possible.

=================================
Testimony Tool
=================================

How We Used This. . .
This resource will help your students examine their life and think about how God has impacted his or her life. This tool has two parts: in the first part, a student does a brief study on the “testimony” of Paul; in the second part, he writes his own. We make this tool available to all students at our Crowd program, but we require all student leaders to write their testimony.

Writing Your Personal Testimony
The Example of the Apostle Paul
One of the privileges and responsibilities of Christians is to share with others our faith in Christ. Although many methods and plans can be used to communicate our faith, none is more effective than sharing how the love, grace, and mercy of Christ has changed our lives.

People to whom we witness may evade issues, attempt to discredit biblical and historical facts, or blame their condition on others. But it’s hard to discount the authentic testimony of a believer whose life has been transformed.

That’s the reason for this lesson. Completing the worksheet will better equip you to give a logical and organized presentation of who Jesus Christ is and what he has done in your life.

Let’s use the story of Paul’s conversion as a pattern for your testimony.

Read the Bible text: Acts 26:1-23
Paul’s attitudes and actions before his conversion –VV. 1-11
Lived as a Pharisee – v. 5 (Gal. 1:13-14)
Imprisoned many saints – v. 10
Condoned the deaths on many saints-v. 10
Persecuted Christians – v. 11
Circumstances surrounding Paul’s Conversion – VV. 12-18
 Where was he going?
 What time was it?
 What did he see?
 Who was with him?
 What did he hear?
(Read 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:15)
Changes in paul’s attitudes and actions after his conversion – VV. 19-23
What evidence of Paul’s repentance and conversion can be found in the following verses:
 Verse 19
 Verse 20
 Verse 21
 Verse 22,23
(Read 1 John 1:5-9; 2:3-6)

========================================
Writing Your Personal Testimony . . . Your Turn!
========================================

Attitudes and actions before I became a Christian
(if appropriate, include family or church background. Avoid naming religious denominations (or naming specific people), since this may alienate some of your listeners)

Circumstances Surrounding My Conversion
(consider time, place, important people, motivation, emotional state, etc. This is a natural place to summarize the gospel: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ)

Changes in my attitudes and actions since my conversion
Be enthusiastic and realistic! Paint a true picture of your new life, share your victories and let everyone know you’re not perfect.

Making Champions of 12 ... of 144 ... of 1728 ... "BELIEVING GOD FOR NEW GENERATIONS!"

UPDATED for the 2014 - 2015 STRETCH
Isaiah 54:2  niv
Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen   your cords, strengthen your stakes.

**MAY BE USED TOO IN OUR LIFEGROUP DISCIPLEMAKING this OVERFLOW2017 Campaign.  Its building relationships for the NEXT ...

HERE'S some SECRETS to MAKE CHAMPIONS of 12 for your next 12:

(1)  EMBRACE fully the idea of Making Disciples in the Vision of 12.

(2)  ESTABLISH your own LTS School with your 12.

(3)  ENLIST a volunteer to run the LTS, LGL+ program, A-1 fashion.

(4)  ENROLL continually people into the CROSScourse [ROW] Roads, Over, Way.

(5)  ENDOWMENTS welcome for CROSSCOURSE and LGL+ alone!  The bigger the better! IMAGINE THIS:  What if you decide to put 50% or more of your Vision Partner's solicited money to run your CROSSCOURSE and LGL+ 1, 2, and 3?  What do you think will happen?

(6)  EARNEST in labor.
Lethargic and lazy people wont make disciples!
They may entertain; build friendships for association ... but never to carefully MAKE ONE to be a follower and worshipper of Jesus.  Disciplemaking involves DISCIPLINE between both the discipler and the disciplee.
EARNEST people understands the principle:
"One percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration = SUCCESS".
EARNEST people love these words: enthusiastic, agog, ardent, breathless, dying to, fervent, gung ho, intent, keen, willing, restless, wild, yearning and zealous --- AND THEY APPLY IT TO DISCIPLE-MAKING for the GLORY OF GOD!

"REAL DISCIPLESHIP is in the CONTEXT OF GODLY RELATIONSHIPS".

THOUGHT # 2:
"REAL DISCIPLESHIP releases people to their FULL POTENTIAL in CHRIST".

THOUGHT # 3:
"REAL DISCIPLESHIP "fathers" people to become "fathers" to others too."

THOUGHT # 4:
"BEWARE of the temptation to CONTROL the LIVES of other people and playing "HOLY SPIRIT" in the quest of disciple making"

THOUGHT # 5:
"BE CAREFUL by letting a Bible Study Course or Meeting become an end in itself. All Bible studies must involve people in the Vision of 12.

Go with the VISION!

It was in the year 1982 that the LORD found me!
I was in 4th year High School then.
Praise the LORD for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ shared to us by an American Missionary.

I got SAVED.
I got BORN AGAIN.
I received NEW LIFE.
I followed the LORD by grace's power!
I am FREE!

A call birthed.
A vision received.
A blessing --- "GO WITH THE VISION" spoken!

The PASTORATE has begun inside of me!
God launched His Life Ministries.
God made sure that I will have a "help meet" -- Trixie!
God made sure that it will be practical and transferable -- He gave us Joshua and Trina!
TO DISCIPLE FIRST!

God made sure that it will be for the long haul in the church of HLM -- He made sure we will Disciple people!  Never Entertain.  Never put up a show.  Never "programs" ... but THE PROGRAM of Discipleship!  Just as the Master said it to be so.
God introduced us to PURPOSE for LIFE!
God made sure that it will ACCELERATE ... together with fellow pastors in the Vineyard -- He gave us The Vision of 12!

Until today THE VISION of giving God all the Glory and seeing committed true-blue fruitful followers of JESUS serving Him and His Agenda (Evangelism, Discipleship and Leadership) remains.

THIS IS EXCITING!

-------------------------------------
VISION IS SO IMPORTANT:
WHY?

- for without SEEING there can be NO Going (movement).
- for without SEEING there can be NO Ending (resting).
- for without SEEING there can be NO Leading (followership zero).
- for without SEEING there can be NO Believing  (therefore no reason to pray).
- for without SEEING there can be NO Imagination (this is what you add after you see ... sky is the limit)

- for without SEEING there can only be UNBELIEF ... believing there is nothing more ... nothing more ... nothing more!  NOTHING!

Proverbs 29:18
“Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish ...
[AMPLIFIED VERSION]

Christian VISION comes from God’s revelation!
— We discover it, NOT design nor invent it.

GLORIFY GOD . MAKE DISCIPLES

VALUES of His Life Ministries

What are CORE VALUES?
The core values of an organization are those values we hold which form the foundation on which we perform work and conduct ourselves.  We have an entire universe of values, but some of them are so primary, so important to us that through out the changes in society, government, politics, and technology they are STILL the core values we will abide by.  In an ever-changing world, core values are constant.  Core values are not descriptions of the work we do or the strategies we employ to accomplish our mission.  The values underlie our work, how interact with each other, and which strategies we employ to fulfill our mission.  The core values are the basic elements of how we go about our work.  They are the practices we use (or should be using) every day in everything we do.
CORE VALUES:
Govern personal relationships
Guide business processes
Clarify who we are
Articulate what we stand for
Help explain why we do business the way we do
Guide us on how to teach
Inform us on how to reward
Guide us in making decisions
Underpin the whole organization
Require no external justification
Essential tenets
CORE VALUES ARE NOT:
Operating practices
Business strategies
Cultural norms
Competencies
Changed in response to market/ administration changes
Used individually

CORE VALUES of His Life
Supplement # 2 found in our CROSSOVER Encounter Booklet

1) The LORDSHIP of JESUS CHRIST
We believe that we are to call upon Jesus as the LORD of our lives. This is the beginning of the Christian life and the sustenance of it for victory and success. Holiness and purity in relationships will be its effect and a strong foundation for becoming a real Christ Follower.

2) The PASSIONATE PURSUIT of GOD in WORSHIP
We express our deep worship of God by seeking to know Him intimately through prayer and fasting, praise and worship, and thanksgiving celebrations.

3) The WORD of GOD
Through theological and practical teaching and preaching we aim for it to be understood, applied and lived out for life transformation. Having the Bible guide us in our Quiet Times is greatly encouraged.

4) COMPASSION for the LOST
People matter to us because they matter to God, that’s why it is our passion to bring people back to God through Celebrative, Culture Current and Life Changing Sunday Worship gatherings. We are deliberate and strategic in evangelism & missions, church planting & mercy ministries.

5) The FAMILY
Next to God, we put high value and priority to Family, that’s why we give great importance of evangelizing and discipling families for the Lord Jesus Christ. We firmly hold it is God’s will for the husband and his wife to be as ONE in bringing their family closer to God and serve in a ministry through the Vision of 12 where God has called them.

6) The NEXT GENERATION
We determine to educate our Adult members to continue supporting, teaching, reaching, and discipleship of the children & youth wherever we plant a church or make our presence felt.

7) EMPOWERING of the HOLY SPIRIT
We honor Jesus as the Head of the Body and the Holy Spirit as our Counselor and Administrator of all we do. We seek to be actively responsive to the Holy Spirit's daily leading of our personal lives and ministries through His revealed Word--the Bible and promptings.

8. DISCIPLESHIP
We desire for all to believe the words of Jesus, obey His commands and do His works in love. We aim first to grow as disciples of Christ ourselves and then to make disciples of others through relationship building in small groups --- Life Groups.

9. LEADERSHIP
It is our conviction that each child of God is called to bring Christ-like influence wherever God has placed them, therefore each follower of Jesus is called to be a leader. We uphold the Jesus kind of Leadership -- that is through servant-hood and influencing others to follow God and His ordained biblical leaders.

10. UNITY WITH OTHER CHURCHES
We are convinced that all followers of Christ are one in His Body, the Church. We aim to maintain unity by honoring all who "call on Jesus' name" and by seeking reconciliation with all parts of the church.

11. (updated lately @2022)  MINISTRY to the POOR
We must love, minister share the goodness of God to the poor.  We have a Gospel to share and to live out before them. Ministry to the poor is a crucial sign that we believe the Gospel to take its effect and bring people to the fullness of Christ.  The poor will become "rich", blessed to be a blessing to the nations.

12. (updated lately @2022)  MULTI CHURCH(ES) FORMs AND METHODs
There is ONLY ONE BODY of CHRIST, those who call upon the Name of JESUS as the only way to redemption.  This body is expressed in so many forms and formats -- it is so creatively diverse, adjusting to the universality of humanity around the world.  We therefore honor and respect and learn from the variety of ways of doing church, as long as Christ is honored, worshipped, preached and allowed to move in the hearts of people, and disciples are made.
