SANITY RESULTS

What if we really want to have a DIFFERENT result/s?
... in HLM church ... as we approach 2018-2019 Biennial

  • a result that will bring solutions?
  • a result that will reset us to basics?
  • a result that will shock us all?
  • a result that will bring more and more glory and focus on GOD and not man?

READY?

IMAGINE?

CAN you TAKE it?

A.
TOTAL CENTRALIZATION of FUNDS, having the HIS LIFE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL CENTRE to be stewards of this.

B.
DISSOLVE the HIS LIFE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL CENTRE and make one of our CORNERS the MAIN player in all affairs and activities:
  1. example:  GIVE it to the EAST TEAM or the SOUTH TEAM to run the BACOLOD CHURCH (remember NORTH had her share of leadership at one time).  I do believe the stretch of this will bring a total surprise! And maybe the most magical one!!!
  2. example:  GIVE it to the WEST TEAM to run the BACOLOD CHURCH.  I do believe more and more stretch of surprises will happen.
C.
PASTOR JR retires early and give the authority of SENIOR PASTORING of His Life Ministries to one of our Junior Pastors.

D.
ALL SENIOR PASTORS resign and COMMIT to level up the NEXT Generation of JUNIOR Leaders, while they (the Senior Pastors) become TRAINERS in the SCHOOL of MOVEMENT (to take the world by storm in church launches, disciple-making and engaging the A-B-C-D-E-F-G arenas). Remember the highest level of LEADERSHIP at His Life is the "TRAINER" and never has been the PREACHER :-)

E.
JULIUS HALL will be built and all our CORNERS and SITES be merging to use this ONE MEGA BUILDING.  This entails the CLOSURE of all sites and corners AND merge as one.

F.
HAVE THE FIRST Priority BUILDING/s first.
LET GO of the JULIUS HALL for the moment:

1.
HOUSE of PRAYER Facility.
This is where all Leaders and Volunteers (5 Ws; Worship Teams; LTS Teachers and LAMBS workers and more) visit weekly to PRAY and FAST before doing anything else.

2.
CROSSOVER WEEKEND Facility (either in a mountain OR by the sea).
This facility will be a revolutionary one for PRODUCING more and more SPIRIT-FILLED disciples and FATHERLY leaders :-)

3.
DIVINITY TRAINING SCHOOL Facility.
A no non-sense equipping and empowering facility to empower more and more people in the
5 FOLD MINISTRY full time offices.

------------

do you still want to be
INSANE?
do you still want to be
more INSANE?

hahahaha .... then keep on doing the same thing over and over again AND hope to expect a different outcome :-)
WATS YA THINK?

Gathering Thoughts on SAME-SEX Marriage RESPONSES from Christian Leaders

BELOW was the carefully worded declaration of our President Duterte
in front of an LGBT group before Christmas 2018

Thoughts below are some of my gatherings among Filipino Christian Leaders for discussion, prayer and awareness.

------------
FROM ATTY LYNDON CANA
FACEBOOK

To the many who stand against same-sex marriage, thank you for standing up for your faith.
To those who are for same-sex marriage and raised many points against God, religion, faith, my being a lawyer, and against my person, may I most respectfully answer as best as I can:

1. You are absolutely correct that religion has done injury and has caused so much evil in this world more than anything else. People have killed and burned and destroyed in the name of religion more than any other cause. Yes, this is absolutely correct. Many people who also claim to be followers of Christ have done atrocious things in the name of God. Yes this is very, very true, and people who are upset and angry with people of faith or with God Himself because of these atrocities, cannot be blamed because of the offense caused by people doing hurtful things in the name of God. People who call themselves Christians and who do these things, will answer to God and pay for their crimes, whether on this earth or in the next life. And so on this point my critics are correct, and I agree with them.

2. And yet, Jesus did not come to establish a religion. You will never find the word religion in the Bible,EXCEPT IN JAMES 1:27 WHERE JAMES DESCRIBES RELIGION THAT THE FATHER ACCEPTS as pure and faultless IS TAKING CARE AFTER WIDOWS AND ORPHANS IN THEIR DISTRESS. But Jesus never even used the word, nor offered anything like religion. He invited people to come to Him – in a relationship, in a fellowship. And he never directed the atrocities that people using His Name have done throughout history. Again, these people will answer to God and face His judgment in the time appointed.

3. And yet again, Jesus stood by the Scriptures. All who follow Him will stand by Scriptures. And the Scriptures is clear: NO TO SAME SEX-MARRIAGE. To stand by it is not fanaticism. It is simply faith. In the same way that an atheist insists there is no God, that a Muslim insists Allah is God, and a socialist says the state is god, and that communism proposes religion is the opiate of the people They all speak their faith. In a democracy, THEY ALL MUST BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK AND BE HEARD.

4. And the truth is: EVERYONE has FAITH, because everyone BELIEVES in something. The Christian believes in Jesus. The Muslim believes in Allah and Mohammed. The Communist believes there is no God. The humanist believes that only man matters and he decides what is right and wrong for him. The pantheist believes everything is God or part of God. The socialist believes that the state is supreme, like a God. So on and so forth. Even one who does not believe in anything has faith. His faith is summed up in two words “anything goes”. The "free thinker" is also a man of faith, because he is believes whatever he thinks is what he will follow and what will rule his life. That is faith. So everyone has faith. There is no one here who does not believe in anything, or something.

5. The “separation of church and state” is not a “separation of church and faith”. The Constitution has faith, expressed in the preamble, invoking the “aid of Almighty God”, or in “Divine Providence” in the old constitution. Freedom of speech and freedom of conscience is an accommodation of the many kinds of faith in a democratic society. When I speak my faith, I do not impose the church on the state. Persuasion is not imposition. I am just sharing my faith, hoping for legislators to be persuaded by arguments of faith.

6. Even if I am not a lawyer, or even if I am a poor and unenlightened lawyer, I like the rest or all of us also believe in something, and I believe in God, in Jesus, in the Bible. And there is room for me in a democracy, as there is room for everyone else. It saddens me that people resort to name calling, cursing, insulting when they argue their point or belief. But I still thank God that He allowed me to live in a country where people are free to express their faith, and I take these all these things in the spirit of gratitude to God that I live in a free country.

7. Finally, those who worry that this debate “divides” the people, and that we must avoid division, because we must work towards unity, may I humbly say this: UNITY is NOT UNIFORMITY. DIVERSITY is NOT DIVISION. Unity does not mean we must all have uniform opinions. Unity means being able to allow and respect others to believe in what they believe in and to be able to express it freely without fear of being jailed, fined, shot, lynched or mobbed.
Finally, this may be hard for others to believe, but I truly mean this: some of the most caring and sensitive people in the world I have ever met are gays and lesbians. A gay couple was very kind to a sister of mine when she was studying theology in a foreign land. In that land, same-sex marriage was allowed. And this man-man couple looked after my sister very well.
But yet I say again, NO TO SAME SEX-MARRIAGE. I hope and pray that a day will never happen when saying this in the Philippines will become a crime for which people like me will be silenced, fined and jailed for speaking out our faith.
So let the debate continue in this free land…
And God bless the Philippines!

DO WE WANT TO BE GOD’S ENEMIES?
By Atty. Lyndon P. Caña

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS A FAR GREATER THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY THAN MAUTE, ISIS, THE INSURGENCY, AND ALL OTHER DANGERS

With all due and great respect for all, many people do not understand the extreme danger of same-sex marriage (which proponents try to soften up as civil partnership). Same sex-marriage or union is far more dangerous to national security than ISIS, Abu Sayaf, Maute, etc. Why? Because our government can defeat the enemies of the Republic, as our gallant soldiers have shown so wonderfully in Marawi. But when God becomes our enemy, how can we and who can win against God?

While we affirm that we are all sinners, that God loves us, including gays, homosexuals, lesbians, there is unfortunately no way we can edit or soften His very clear Word, among so many other passages, in Romans 1:18-32:

“18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened…
26… their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”

The wrath of God... It is so clear...

That sex has been designed by God between man and woman in marriage, and not between man and man or woman and woman, has been plain since the beginning. And now, although we say we know God, now, we are not glorifying Him but darkening the mind of the people with notions that same-sex union is okay, is fine, is all right. So now, we are dangerously on the brink of making God our Number One threat to our national security and welfare…

Who can handle the wrath of God? What Special Forces or Marine Brigade can we assign to neutralize God?
No matter what and how many problems we face, if God is with us, and is for us, who can defeat us? (Romans 8:31)
But even if we build, build, build, change the Constitution, shift to federalism, declare all out war against ISIS, the NPAs, the enemies of the Republic, if God Himself becomes our Enemy, who can save us? What Martial Law can contain God or neutralize His wrath?

Someone might say, “but same-sex marriage is ratified by 24 countries in the world, and they are the richest, most prosperous countries on earth!” That is answered by the next chapter, in Romans 2:

“4 …do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”[a] 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.”

Wrath and anger... who and how can we escape it?

There are just two options towards God's Word: believe it or dismiss it. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND. To be in the “middle” is to be against it. Even in parliamentary procedure, an abstention is as good as a no because it is not a yes. So either we say “yes” or “no” to God on this issue.

“There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.” (Prov. 21:31)
“If a man sins against another man, God may mediate for him, but if man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?” (I Samuel 2:25), which, when paraphrased means, “If man is your enemy, God can help you, but if God Himself becomes your enemy, who can help you?”

May the Philippines NEVER RISK making God its Number One Enemy. Love gays and homosexuals with the love of the Lord, but NO to same sex-marriage, NO to so-called “civil partnership”, NO to same-sex union!

Let me share this observation:

The culture and The Filipino Values:
Pinoy LGBT dilemma.

Pls share this to everyone!

1. Same sex and homosexuality or LGBT is contra sa moral values ng pinoy.
Why? majority of us Filipino cares so much of this Values.

2. LGBT is again not part of our cultural values

3. Philippnes is compose of 80% catholics and 13% protestants or equivalent to 95million and 350,000 lang ang lgbt so ang lgbt is a minority kaya po mas marami ang ayaw sa lgbt outnumber po talaga so pag sa batas nyan madaming lalabas sa kalye para tutulan yan

4. Next philippines are bible believers not necesarily all practice biblical principles.
So normal na gagamitin nila bible kasi iyon ang basehan nila. And lgbt people will be confronted by these bible verses, contra cultura and values kasi lgbt. Bec. Bible believers nga ang mga pilipino e. Tapos even parent ng lgbt most of them dont accept lgbt values and practices.so mahirap talaga para sa lgbt na matangap sila ng mga pinoy. But hindi ibig sabihin hindi natin mahal ang lgbt,

Yung mga practices, values, culture ang hindi katangap-tangap like:

1. Male to male sexual act( anal sex, oral sex) contra values yan ng mga pinoy, kahit si Inay at Itay natin suklam dyan. So magulang mo nga ayaw iba pa kayang tao.

Go to congress para maisabatas ang nais nila.
Law Agenda : matangap kami na tama kami at normal kami. Tangapin nyo kami tao din kami. May karapatan din kami. Wag nyo kaming idiscriminate. SOGIE bill ipasa

You can also study yung nangyari sa Brazil,USA, CAnada,Mexico, Sweden

1. Ano impact sa education nila.
a. Text book ng mga bata nabago
b. Yung dating sex education naging SAME SEX EDUCATION - mang-gigil talaga si inay and itay nyan. Contra cultura and values ng pinoy

2. Ano impact sa religious freedom
- pastors are imprison for speaking or teaching the bible against homosexuality.
- so how can we preach the whole truth not partial truth? May ma offend na lgbt talaga.

3. Ano impact nito sa family?
- parents conflict with their child.
- sibling war : patagong ikinahihiya nila kapatid nila, so may silent rejection ang mga lesbian or gay sa family. Hindi nga kasi lahat tatangapin ang contra cultura and contra pinoy values. Gulo talaga.

4. Ano impact sa society natin.

5. So saan tyo kukuha ng referee kung sino tama. Bible para sa mga pinoy! Mga Pare mga pastor and bishops iyan ang gagamutin nilang basehan.
Its now a social issues!

A. Catholics, Protestants will tell you ano ba sabi ng bible: For them the bible is the source of absolute and final authority ng life.

B. Lgbt most of them dont like people who confront them with the bible coming from protestant or catholics and begin quoting bible verses. So ang lgbt tuloy mukhang hindi naniniwala sa bible because offended by C and P pero most of them naniniwala naman

So tirahan ang itsura natin.

So para sa aking bible believers and most lgbt are also bible believers also gawin natin ganito lets submit sa bible authority to establish the truth then submit.

1. Lgbt Pag hindi ka naniniwala sa bible expect you will be offended sa mga verses ng bible

2. Sa mga Lgbt believer ng bible take time to consider read and meditate the bible or tanongin mo nanay mo or tatay mo na bible believer din kung mali or against ba talaga ang God of the bible sa lgbt?

Loving lgbt

Mahihirapan talaga SOGIE BILL:
Busted na talaga ito!

Same Sex Marriage won’t pass Senate according to Sen. Joel Villanueva and Sen. Tito Sotto

Sen. Joel Villanueva, for his part, said he OPPOSSES same-sex marriage.

Villanueva maintained that “MARRIAGE IS SACRED” and is an issue not concerning the State. Villanueva is a son of known religious Christian leader and Jesus is Lord founder Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

“Yung rights ang dapat mas pangalagaan, yung sagradong sacramento ng kasal marapat yata na ipaubaya sa simbahan yan (Their rights should be protected more. The sacred sacrament of marriage should, I think, be left with the Church),” he said.

Sotto likewise said that same-sex union would be more acceptable than marriage.
(It’s a) violation of Family Code, and the Constitution and the Bible.
Same-sex union is enough,” he said.

Never!
Leaders of the Catholic and evangelical churches on Monday reiterated their objection to the legalization of same-sex marriage after President Duterte turned about and expressed support for gay unions.
In a statement, Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes maintained that the Catholic Church could never approve of same-sex marriage and called on Filipinos not to allow it, especially its legalization.

“The trivialization of marriage is one of the fundamental reasons [for] the breakdown of individuals and human society,” Bastes said.

The Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) also voiced its objection to same-sex marriage, stressing that it was against the central teachings of Christianity and even of Islam.

“Union between the same sex, for instance, directly contradicts a central teaching of Islam and Christianity—that marriage is only between a man and a woman,” the PCEC said in a statement.

Rights of homosexuals

In a speech at a gathering of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in his hometown, Davao City, on Sunday, President Duterte vowed to protect the rights of homosexuals and invited them to nominate a representative to work in his administration.

“I want same-sex marriage. The problem is we’ll have to change the law. But we can change the law,” Mr. Duterte said to wide applause.

He said the Family Code limited marriage to a union between a man and a woman but stressed that he didn’t have any problems “making it marrying a man, marrying a woman or whatever is the predilection of the human being.”

“I am for same-sex marriage if that is the trend of modern times,” he said. “If that will add to your happiness, I am for it. Whatever makes the person happy, I will give it. Why should I hold it back?”

Bastes, however, reiterated the Church’s firm stand that marriage could only be between a man and a woman, for the procreation of children and the building of a family.

“[The] main great purpose is procreation of children and building a loving family, the basic unit of human society, which is also the domestic church. This is, of course, impossible [in] ‘marriage’ of the same sex,” he said.

The PCEC objected to House Bill No. 4982, or the sexual orientation or gender identity or expression equality bill, and House Bill No. 6595, or the civil partnership bill, which would recognize licensed unions of LGBT couples.

‘Serious errors’

These bills, the PCEC said, were “serious errors that harm not only our Christian faith but also the morality and very destiny of our nation.”

“We believe these bills, if imposed on Philippine society as laws, will become a source of unwelcome tension[s] in our nation. It will only marginalize religion and thus cause the very discrimination it seeks to avoid,” the group said.

Mr. Duterte was previously quoted by local media as saying he was opposed to gay unions because marriage in the Philippines was only between a man and a woman.

He brought up the issue in the past while attacking Western countries that allowed gay marriage, especially those that criticized his brutal war on drugs.

Many countries, mostly in Europe and the Americas, have already recognized same-sex unions. Australia is the latest to legalize it.

Catholic bishops in the Philippines, who also oppose Mr. Duterte’s bloody crackdown on narcotics, have voiced concern over legalizing same-sex marriage after his right-hand man in the House of Representatives, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, introduced legislation that would legalize gay unions.

In his speech at the LGBT gathering in Davao on Sunday, Mr. Duterte did not specify how same-sex marriage would be legalized, but made it clear that he cared nothing for the Church’s opposition.

Almost passé

“Why impose a morality that is no longer working and almost passé,” he said. “So I am with you.”

The President asked the LGBT community to nominate a representative whom he could appoint to a government post, saying he needed “the brightest” to replace those he had recently fired over allegations of corruption.

“You nominate somebody who is honest, hardworking. I give you until the second week of January to nominate,” he said.

Naomi Fontanos, executive director of Ganda Filipinas, a transgender activist group, said she welcomed Mr. Duterte’s remarks but added that “we hope it’s not just an exercise in tokenism.”

“We hope that the President will really commit to the human rights and social justice for all, not just of the LGBTIQ community,” she added. —With reports from the wires

A CONCERT of CONSECRATED UNITED PRAYER

Here's a POWERFUL build up PATTERN I learned in the past as we had our DAWN WATCH Prayer meetings years ago.

We use the PATTERN of "PPP".

PRAISE
PREACH
PRAY

PRAISE --- all out beginning!
Just like in the Book of Psalms where we are called to PRAISE THE LORD!
As we do this Biblical PRAISE, it would be helpful to see the 7 HEBREW words for "PRAISE".
This must be our guide and inspiration.
CLAPS, DANCES, FLAGS WAVED, BANNERS LIFTED, SHOFAR BLOWN, DECREE DECLARATIONS, SHOUTS and many more!!!!
During PRAISE TIME, we must be in ALL OUT PRAISE to God.
START in PRAISE!

PREACH -- all out teaching and exposition of the WORD of God.
The reason is for PEOPLE to be built in FAITH by the hearing and hearing of the WORD OF GOD before they PRAY!  OUR prayer is only as good as it is aligned to the WORD of God.  The WORD must be read.  The WORD must be explained very clearly.  There must be a call to APPLY the Word of God.

PRAY -- all out PRAYING only happens after we PRAISE THE LORD and PREACHED HIS WORD.  Notice that JESUS did not immediately pray, but rather "PREPARED" HIMSELF to do so in the Book of Mark Chapter 1.  In principle, we are to PREPARE FIRST before any PRAYING!!!
Praise would prepare us!
The Preaching and listening of the Word must prepare us!

We also include DECLARATIONS and the PRAYER TONGUE and the LIKE to purify our PRAYER THOUGHTS in each prayer segment. Songs may also be sung.  Prophetic Acts led by the Spirit of God brings power! We are to PRAY in the mind of Christ 🙂

------------
LEAD PRAISE.
THEN PREACH.
THEN PRAY like never before!
You may end in PRAISE as well ... just like the BOOK of Psalms :-)

FORM 30 60 measurements for increments

"Consider carefully what you hear, with the measure you use, it will be measured to you – and even more"
-- Mark 4:24 NIV

I am praying that our volunteers, workers and disciple-makers will be fruitful!
That they will see a production that is above normal ... seeing the Hand of God in all they do.
I pray for the fullest production ever in connection to the work and agenda of the Kingdom of God versus our own "regular" vocations, career, work assignments, businesses and even hobbies and sports.
This increase and acceleration are possible as we TAKE HEED, as we GIVE ALL, as we CONSECRATE and CONCENTRATE.

------------
"We measure everything that we hear. When I hear the Word regarding my situation,
I determine whether it is received or not, and to what level it is received.
I measure everything that I hear. The Word of God responds to my measuring device.
Mark 4:24 says, “The way “you” hear it, the way “you” measure and respond to it is the measure that it works in your life.
God is not measuring this for you. The man got 30 fold because that is what he heard and responded to. Another man got 60 because that is what he heard and responded to."
-- borrowed from J Edmond --
------------

The way you measure and respond to the Word of God is the way or amount that you are going to get results from it.  To the Degree of Listening, Heeding, Taking Measures, will be the degree of harvest, increase, manifestation you will celebrate.

PREPARE to MEASURE.
PREPARE to HEAR.
PREPARE to HEED.
PREPARE to OBEY.
PREPARE to PREPARE.
Then get the results based from that.
Reap the Blessings from your measurements :-)

------------
THESE FORMS BELOW are "hearing aids", "preparation aids", an aid for seeing the future in your related ministries (for WEEKEND CELEBRATIONS).  Another set of FORMS will be used as a measuring aid for WIN BOND TRAIN SEND (discipleship process at HIS LIFE).
Do consider exceeding expectations when you THINK, PLAN, PRAY.
Increase the measure of your TAKING OF MEASURES.
Dream, Imagine, make it a supra-blessing experience for OTHERS!

3. Have a VISION that is impossible for you to FINISH in your lifetime.
4. Spread your ideas like a "REBEL-Renegade" in Kingdom PURPOSES.

MAKE LIFE GROUP LEADERS

There was a night, during one of our M.D. Nights (MAKE DISCIPLES nights),
where the idea of having a HASH TAG "#" must be clear and simple to help RALLY and REMIND everyone who will be MAKING DISCIPLES (LifeGroupLeaders at HIS LIFE) excited and motivated.

The original HASH TAG was #making2000LifeGroupLeaders.

I came to the conclusion that BREAKING DOWN this number "2000" among participating Sites, Schedules, Corners, Campuses, Communities and Networks will make it more PERSONALIZED and PRACTICAL ... therefore now ALL may choose their FAITH GOAL NUMBER, then posting their HASH TAGS with it:

#making___LifeGroupLeaders

  5. Pray that every children will create a ripple of God’s love wherever the Lord has planted them.

June 11 - Height vs Heart
Most children see other children on how they look from the outside, so when they see a child with weird eyeglasses they will definitely say that child is a nerdy one.  Our prayer that through this lesson children will not put a branded name on a child  but rather they will see according to God’s eyes.

June 18 - Fear vs Faith
Since the bible character are overly familiar with the children, our activity for this is the mannequin challenge.  To freeze with fear or to step out with faith in God.

June 25 - Circumstances vs Truth (Wrong Way vs Right Way)
Children faces challenges everyday, how do they respond to it, depends on what’s in their hearts, “SPONGE EFFECT”. Most of their reaction is to get even.

July 2 - Strength vs Weakness
July 9 - Reject vs Admit
July 16 - Cheap Gift vs Costly Gift

July 23 – Crucible Culmination
Children will be receiving rewards as a faithful finisher of this series.

------------
NOTE:
AN EFFECTIVELY RAN CHURCH SERIES / CAMPAIGN:

  • Provides a full-bodied learning experience for your entire congregation.
  • Increases church unity through a combined focus. The Church Campaign unites the adults, youth and children on one specific topic or biblical text for a focused period. There is unity of program, of thinking and of energy.
  • Provides a project to which everyone can contribute! Church Campaigns have a place for all giftings to serve in.
  • Focuses on a specific topic or biblical text, and each includes a variety of resources that can be used by church leaders every week — typically including sermon transcripts, sermon outlines, PowerPoint presentations, supplemental preaching illustrations, Bible studies, supplemental icebreakers and activities.
  • Is typically developed by an expert on the subject.
  • Allows you to stop, at least for the Church Campaign period, those activities and ministries that are not working. This valid pause may provide a time for all involved to re-evaluate the effectiveness of the ministry they are committed to.
  • Requires team work to achieve the Church Campaign’s potential, thereby increasing this capacity in your church for future ministry.
  • Increases church attendance.
  • Activates your membership through a deepened spiritual commitment. Members are motivated to attend services, participate in the devotionals and join small groups.
  • Is small group driven – thus leaving the church with a dynamic and expanded small group structure on which to build after the Church Campaign ends.
  • Giving typically goes up.
  • Leads to a changed focus from “us” to “others” and raises awareness of local and global community needs.
  • Building on the sermons and Bible studies, the Church Campaigns are anticipated to lead to projects of good work.

CRUCIBLE forms

CRUCIBLE Discussion Guide/s and PERSONAL REFLECTION Sections

CRUCIBLE Discussion GUIDE
IMAGE versus CHARACTER

The word crucible has three definitions:
  • A vessel used for melting a substance that requires  a high degree of heat
  • A severe test
  • A place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause change or development.

Before this study did you know what a crucible was?
In what ways can you relate to the definitions?

In 1 Samuel 16:7, God tells Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things mans look at. Man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart. “In what ways does that perspective differ from the typical attitudes of most people? How would our society change if we began valuing people’s hearts instead outward image?

Israel wanted a king not because of a conviction about the best form of government or because God was no longer willing to guide them, but because they wanted to be like all the other nations. Can you relate to that desire? In what circumstances have you made decisions  in order to be more like other people?

Think through some of your recent decisions. Who were you trying to please? How much does your image usually play into your decision-making process? How much does God’s perspective factor into your decisions?

This section focuses on how God often chooses to qualify the called rather than call the qualified. In what ways does that encourage you or challenge you? Are you dealing with a challenge now that you don’t feel qualified to handle? Does feeling unqualified mean that it isn’t God’s will? Why or why not? What do you think would happen if you decided simply to lean on Him?

Are you in crucible moment right now? If so, in what ways is it challenging or testing you?

CRUCIBLE Personal Reflection SECTION
for your Quiet Times [alone with God]
IMAGE versus CHARACTER

Society often emphasizes image above substance.
We are bombarded with messages about what we “should” be in terms of weight, clothes, financial status, who we marry, who we date, where we vacation, and so on. Judging people on the outside rather than what’s on the inside seems very accepted, normal and natural.
In what ways has this tendency affected you?
Have you caught yourself making judgments, about appearances too?
Each person  on this earth is loved and valued by God. In fact, we receive our value from God not from anything in this world. Spend this week looking at people through that lens---as a son or daughter of God.
How does this perspective change the way you treat people?

Each day is spent making decisions----at home, at work, in relationships.
Pay attention to the motivation behind your decisions this week.
Do you see a theme in how you make your choices?
Do you tend to pursue financial security?
The approval of others?
Greater power or influence?

Wintley Phipps said, “It is in the quiet crucible of our personal private sufferings that our noblest dreams are born and God’s greatest gifts are given.“
What do you think of this statement?
Can you think of examples of dreams and gifts God has given you in past crucible moments?

Read Isaiah 43:2 Often as we go through challenging experiences, we forget how God carried us through problems in the past. Make a list of the ways you’ve seen God show up in your life.
As you go through your next or your current crucible, use this list to remind yourself of God’s faithfulness.

FINAL APPLICATION:
We can choose whether to resist or embrace God’s process.
What choice will you make?

CRUCIBLE Discussion GUIDE
FEAR versus FAITH

Just as God was able to move David from being a simple shepherd boy to reigning as king through fire and intense stress. He’s transforming us too—from the inside out. Among His key tools  for transforming us are the “giants” in our lives.
Who or what is your Goliath?

When have you had to deal with something that scared or intimidated you?
Did you approach it with faith or with fear?
What was the result?

Many people have accepted their Goliaths as a fact of life . Sometimes people whose fear has won out faith are seen as “wise” “realistic” or “sensible”.
These people may also see those with radical faith as reckless.
Think of a few people who fit each of  these descriptions.

1) Accepting of Goliaths and “realistic” and
2) Radical in faith and fearless against giants.

Which kind of person seem to be most content?
Which one has more impact in God’s kingdom? Why?

Faith is often a great threat to those who are controlled by fear. When we decide to walk by faith, we may quickly find that those controlled by fear oppose us.
Why do you think this is?
Have you experienced this dynamic in your life?
How did you respond?

Saul tried to dress David in his own battle gear and offered David his own weapon to use. David was uncomfortable and knew he wouldn’t succeed if he approached the situation like Saul would.
Have you ever been in that situation ----trying to succeed in “clothes” that don’t fit?
Why it is important to approach your Goliaths as yourself and not trying to be like someone else?

In last week’s lesson, we saw that God often chooses to qualify the called rather than call the qualified. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways….. as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thought than your thoughts. “Many times God puts us in situations that we don’t understand and don’t feel equipped to handle. What do you think your Goliath looks like from God’s point of view? How do you think your life would change if you acted as if your Goliath was God’s battle and not yours?

CRUCIBLE Personal Reflection SECTION
for your Quiet Times [alone with God]
FEAR versus FAITH

Goliaths can show up in any area of our lives---relationships, work, addiction, unresolved hurts, finances, phobias and more. The real issue isn’t how it shows up or what we have to do to overcome it; it’s whether we are going to face it with the heart of a David or the heart of a Saul.
When you think of your Goliath, which kind of heart do you think you have?
Why?

Many of us have a hard time facing our Goliath because we are comparing its size and strength to our own and not to God’s. we let our giants take our focus off of God and put it onto them. But God is always bigger than our problems, and He isn’t sitting around waiting for us to offer a solution. This week make a list of seven of God’s characteristics---like loving, faithful, fierce, comforting, strong, merciful, etc. pick seven that are particularly reassuring to you and spend time each day thinking of how God’s nature relates to your Goliath. What happens to your perceptions of the size of God and the size of your Goliath when you do this? What else can you do to help change your perspective?

It is said that “God’s faithfulness in the past is the basis for our faith in the present.” Saul faced Goliath with fear, but David faced the giant with faith. How had God been preparing David for this moment throughout his life? Look back on your past lions and bears. How did God show up in your past battles? How has been preparing you for your current battles?

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else , guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life.“
What do you need to do to take care of your heart?
How can you keep your heart focused on God’s character instead of focusing on your Goliath?
How can you do practically help yourself remember God’s past faithfulness?
What can you do this week to specifically and intentionally guard your heart?

You may know someone who is facing an enormous giant in his or her life right now.
As we’ve seen, faith is a threat to those who are controlled by fear. Is there someone who needs you to walk with them in their crucible?
What can you do to encourage their faith instead of their fear?

FINAL APPLICATION:
What step do you think God wants you to take first to conquer your Goliath by faith?

CRUCIBLE Discussion GUIDE
CIRCUMSTANCES versus TRUTH

1. Are you struggling with a decision today?
Is there something you’ve been waiting for or praying about God hasn’t yet answered?
If so, in what ways have you been tempted to take matters into your own hands?
In what ways are you choosing to focus on truth?

2. We’ve all heard the saying “When God closes a door, He opens a window.” Have you found that to be true in your experience?
When your present circumstances don’t seem to reflect God’s truth how have you been able to discern His will?

3. Read Matthew 7:24-27.
True security comes from building our home on the “rock” of God’s Word.
In what ways do you depend on God in your Life?
What sources of provision and protection other than Him do you tend to seek?

4. One of the most challenging things for anyone to do is wait for an answer or direction from God, yet in Psalms, many of them written by David, are filled with instructions to wait on God.
How hard is that from you to do?
Have you ever been mistaken an open door for God’s will?
Are you ever tempted to take control or manipulate circumstances?

5. Two major points in this session are that God’s process is almost always different than we expected and God’s timing is almost always slower than we hoped.
How have you seen this play out in your life?
Looking back on your life, what would have happened if you’d received what you wanted exactly when you wanted it?

6. It’s often said that “character is who you are when nobody is watching.”
Why do you think character matters even when no one notices?
Do you think it was important to David to be able to look back and know he became king without manipulating the process? Why or why not?

CRUCIBLE Personal Reflection SECTION
for your Quiet Times [alone with God]
CIRCUMSTANCES versus TRUTH

1.  Helen Keller said, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.
Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Think back on the times in your life when God ask you to wait for an answer or when you had to wait on God to fulfill His promise to you.
What was God teaching you while you waited?
What did you learn in those times?

2.  We’ve seen that God’s way and His thoughts are different and higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Even though we know that’s true we still often assume we know the best answer, best direction, or best outcome. We don’t see God working our situation out for us .In Proverbs 3:5-6, He tells us not to lean on our own understanding but to trust Him as He directs our paths. Is there anything that’s stands in the way of trusting God will all of you heart?
If so, what? What would you need to let go of in order to stop leaning on your own understanding?

3.  Take out a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side, list all the thoughts, circumstances, relationships, delays, questions, and fears you have. On the other side list God’s truth or promise for each one. If you can’t find a verse, list one of God’s characteristics like faithful, just or merciful. How does compiling this list change your perspective?
In light of God’s Word, His character and His promises, why it is difficult to trust Him sometimes? Which is easier for you to depend on—the God of the Bible or the god of your feelings?

4.  Read Romans 12:2.
In order to follow God’s will, we must renew our minds. How do we do that?
Now and read Philippians 4:8-9 and 2 Corinthians 10:5.
God means for us to replace all our anxieties, fears, insecurities, and stress with confidence and trust in His willingness and ability to care for us. What can you do practically to accomplish that?
What would it take for you to retrain your thoughts?
What obstacle do we face in stepping outside our typical thoughts of anxiety or resentment to be able to focus on trusting God and all that He is doing for us?
How can we overcome those obstacles?

5.  David was able to become king with a guiltless heart and clean hands, and God was pleased.
Is there anything you need to change in your life in order to come out of your situation with a heart that is guiltless and hands that are clean?

FINAL APPLICATION:
What is the biggest decision you are struggling with right now?
Will you commit to base your decision on God’s truth instead of your circumstances?

DECEPTION versus INTEGRITY
Discuss what you’ve heard

Look  at this progress chart that was discussed in the session:
DESIRE  >>>  TEMPTATION >>> SIN >>> DEATH

What were initial thoughts about this chart?
How have you seen this pattern played out in your life?
The demand for immediate gratification is a rampant problem in today’s world.
Everyone seems to be looking for the fastest way to make money, lose weight, buy a new car, or do whatever their heart desires.
We seem to crave bigger and better, and we want it now without having to worry about the consequences.
When you make decisions, how often do you think about the long range consequences?
Do you tend to be more preoccupied with the immediate benefits of your decisions or their long term effects? Why?

In addition to long range consequences, David didn’t think about the collateral damage of his sin.
His choice to sleep with Bathsheba impacted much more than just the two of them.
In what ways have you seen your sin impact those around you?
In what ways have you seen the sins of others impact you?

Before we do the unthinkable, we think the undoable.
Many times we think our thoughts won’t hurt anybody because they are completely private.
Yet many times it’s those thoughts that eventually make the unthinkable seem justifiable.
Is there anything in your thought life that would be damaging if it manifested in real life?
Why is it important to keep our thoughts pure?

This tragic series of events could have all been avoided if David had been where he belonged.
What implications does that statement have for your life?
How can being where we’re supposed to be keep us from doing what we shouldn’t do?

Darkness and secrecy help fuel the power of sin.
Satan tries to isolate us and make us believe we’re unique in our struggle.
Have you ever experienced this?
Have you seen it in someone else?
Is there any sin you need to bring to the light?
If so, what steps can you take this week to find someone safe to talk to and discuss it with them?

DECEPTION versus INTEGRITY
For Personal Reflection [QUIET TIME]
Before we do the unthinkable, we think the undoable.
What temptation are you dealing with today?
Look at the progress chart again.
Can you locate where you are in this cycle?

Matthew 6:22 says, “If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.” Psalm 119:105 says God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. In light of these verses, how would you assess the path that you’re on?
Is it a healthy and godly path?
Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 and think back to the exit example.
Has God provided any exists that you need to take?
If so, what might be preventing you from taking it?

We might think that our choices only impact us, but that isn’t true.
Think everyone who was caught in David’s lie and attempted cover ups.
Has anyone been caught in the collateral damage of your sin?
If so, what can you do to make things right?

Sometimes we are caught in the collateral damage of someone else’s sin.
If that’s true for you, what positive steps are you taking to heal from the damage and avoid repeating the pattern? Are there any steps you need to take to forgive?

Proverbs 4:23 says ‘’ Above all else, guard your heard, for it is the well spring of life.
“To be serious about guarding your heart means that you have to risk someone knowing the truth about what is in your heart. Satan’s goal is to isolate us; when you drag your secrets into the light they lose the power to take you down the wrong path.
Is there someone in your life you can trust with your heart?
Will you take the risk and talk to that person?

FINAL APPLICATION:
What positive steps does God want you to take in order to protect you moral purity?

ARROGANCE versus HUMILITY
Discuss what you’ve heard

Uriah dies.
Bathsheba mourns.
David marries Bathsheba.
Bathsheba gives birth.
They all live happily ever after.
All’s well that ends well.
Does deception and sin ever end that neatly?
What are some of the lingering consequences of sin that you have seen in your life or in the lives of others?
Being sent to confront a king with his sin was no easy task, yet Nathan did it without hesitation.
How much faith and trust do you think Nathan must have had in order to obey God’s instructions? Can you remember a time when you had to do something difficult because it was God’s will?
How did you respond?

Second Samuel 11:27 says, “The Thing David had done displeased the Lord.”
When we’ve disobeyed God, there’s a connection between God’s displeasure in us and our misery. Have you ever worked hard to cover up a secret only to find yourself miserable?
Why was that a painful experience?
Which do you think is less painful: coming clean or maintaining the secret?
Why?

Many people believe that whatever happens between consenting adults in fine.
What do you think God’s perspective on that belief is?
Have you ever seen “private” sin that have far-reaching impact?
Why do you think it’s important to confess sin to God and others who have been affected by it?
Why does it require great humility to do that?

How did Nathan confront David?
Why do you think?
His approach was able to penetrate David’s defenses?
What can we learn about how to confront someone from Nathan’s example?
God so completely redeemed David’s greatest sin that David named a son after Nathan, and this son had a place in the genealogy of Jesus. To what degree do you let past mistakes “disqualify” you from present or future opportunities?
Do you believe God is able and willing to redeem your sin? Why can you be sure that He is able to overcome any limitations or constraints created by your past mistakes?

ARROGANCE versus HUMILITY
For Personal Reflection [QUIET TIME]

The crucible moment in this story pits arrogance against humility. David’s adultery and his cover-up demonstrate a willful disregard of God’s law. He behaved as if the king was above the standards imposed on normal people. In any of your roles in life, do you feel that normal standards don’t apply to you? Have you seen examples in yourself or others of ”making an exception” in order to justify sin?
When Nathan confronted David, God equipped him with a story that would capture David’s attention- a story about shepherding for a former shepherd. If God wanted to reach you heart, what kind of stories or examples would He uses? Have you noticed God using someone or some situation to get your attention? What do you think He is trying to tell you?
If you’ve been trying to maintain secrets and deceptions, what kind of confrontation would it take for God to correct you? How would you respond to a “Nathan” who boldly told you the truth and pointed out the coming consequences? Would you tend to respond with defensiveness and arrogance, or with humility and repentance? Why?
Most people tend to be either lovers or truth lovers or truth tellers. Balancing the two attitudes is difficult, but Nathan seemed to have a mastered the ability to speak the truth in love. Which way do you tend to lean? Have there been times when you’ve found it necessary to go against your natural tendency in a friendship? If so, how did you respond?
The fact that David named a son after Nathan was a profound expression of humility. Nathan was a constant reminder of David’s sin and the worst time in his life. But David embraced his past and embraced even our mistakes? In what ways is it important to leave the past behind and move forward? How did David find that balance?

FINAL APPLICATION; Are there any areas of your life in which you need to fallow David’s path back to God? If so, what steps can you take this week to do that?

DISAPPOINTMENT versus EXPECTANCY
Discuss What You’ve Heard

Before David began following his dream, he stopped and asked God if the dream fit His plans.
Why is that important to do?
How much frustration do you think we could save ourselves if we only pursued the dreams God endorsed? How intentional are you about slowing down to listen for God’s direction?

Many people are afraid that if they submit their longings to God, He will deny them or give them answers they don’t want. What do you think would happen if you laid down your expectations and asked God show you His plans for your life?
Is there anything you need to let go of in order to hear God’s plans for you? If so, what?

David could have focused on his disappointment, but he chose to worship God.
Why do you think he was able to do that?
Have you ever responded to God that way or seen someone who has?
What thoughts are we tempted to think about God when we are deeply disappointed?

In what ways has your life turned out differently than you expected?
In what areas of life have you experienced the denial or delay of a dream?
Have you been able to move past your disappointment in that area? How have you responded?
Have you thought much about the bigger picture and your dreams may extend beyond your own generation?
Why is it important to have longings that are bigger than ourselves?
How would you feel about your delayed dreams if you knew God had delayed them in order to do something more lasting with them that you envisioned?

Read David’s prayer in 2 Samuel 7:27-29.
Do you think this prayer required courage?
Why or why not?
Why is it scary to let go of our expectations and embrace God’s plan?
What did David do to pursue his dream even after he knew he would not see the fulfillment of it? What can you do to pursue your God- given longings while you are waiting for their fulfillment?
