His Life Ministries Mission Sunday “August 2026”

John 4:39–42 

shows what can happen when someone truly meets Jesus. 

The Samaritan woman had a painful past filled with broken relationships, rejection, and shame. 

But after meeting Christ, her life changed. Instead of carrying the weight of her past, she shared her story and helped others find Jesus.
In the theme of “Freedom from the Darkness Within,” this passage shows that Jesus does more than reveal our struggles. He sets us free and gives us a new path. The Samaritan woman was not stuck in her past. Her meeting with Christ became the beginning of her purpose.

The Journey from Bondage to Mission

1. 

JESUS TURNS OUR PAST INTO A TESTIMONY. 

The Samaritan woman told others, “He told me all that I ever did” (v. 39). She did not have to hide what Jesus already knew. What once brought her shame became a story of grace. The darkness that once silenced her became the story she shared to lead others to Jesus. When surrendered to Christ, it can become part of the testimony of what He rescued us from.

JESUS TURNS OUR FREEDOM INTO A MISSION. 

After meeting Jesus, the woman went back to her community and told them about Him. 

She did not wait until she knew everything. She simply shared her experience. 

Our freedom brings a new responsibility. We are not set free just for ourselves. God frees us so He can work through us. A real meeting with Jesus should move us from saying “Jesus changed me” to “Let me tell you about Jesus.”

 
3. 

JESUS USES OUR STORIES TO LEAD OTHERS TO HIM. 

At first, the Samaritans believed because of the woman’s story, but then they met Jesus themselves. They said, “We know that this is indeed the Savior of the world”(v. 42). Her story opened the door, and Jesus changed their lives. This is the heart of Christian mission. We do not point people to ourselves or our achievements.

We point them to Christ. The Samaritan woman went to the well carrying her past, but she left with a new purpose. She arrived burdened and left free. She came feeling ashamed and left with a testimony. She came alone and left with a mission. She came looking for water and found the Living Water. 
Because she was willing to share her story, others came to Jesus and found Him for themselves. 

The same is true for us today. Jesus does not free us from our darkness just so we can be comfortable. He frees us so we can bring light to others.

Give our HEARTS, our LIVES, our TIME, our ALL in all to JESUS for His sake and the GOSPEL.

We will now RECEIVE OFFERINGS to REACH the WORLD

... that they may know the only One who can set them free ...

Lets now PRAY to prepare for a move like never before ....
