The Six Points ( T U L I P S ) of Reforming Reformed Catholic Churches
(Modified T U L I P)

Intro:
>  Reformed Theology resulted from Theological Reformation in Church and Her Theology!

>  The One, Holy, Apostolic, and Catholic Church underwent deformation deviating from the Bible!

>  John Wycliffe was the Bright Morning Star of the Reformation of the Church!

>  Hence, the Cry of the Biblical Reformed Theologians explaining  . . .

I. Total Depravity / Inability by himself to return to God – Rom. 3: 10 - 12

      A. Sin from man’s evil heart although ‘righteous’ in his own eyes (Isa. 64: 6; Matt. 15: 19)!

      B. Sinners in themselves are God’s enemies & cannot return to Him (Rom. 3: 10-12, 23)!

      C. Sin is in his depraved being & behavior (Room. 3: 23; 5: 12; 6: 23a; 5: 12; 6: 23; 7: 14)!

Transition: Total Depravity, originally, the third reformed point according to Dort’s canons!

II. Unconditional Election (unto Salvation, first Canon) - Eph. 1: 4; Rom. 9: 11; Rom: 11: 6

      A. Elect Sinners - chosen by God in Christ before creation (Rom. 9: 11; Eph. 1: 3-5)!

      B. Election - His foreknowledge / forelove us in Christ (Rom. 8: 8: 28, 29; I Jn. 2: 19; 4: 19)!

      C. Elected – by God in His Fatherly love in Christ! – Eph. 1: 4; John 3: 14; 18; Rom. 5: 8

Transition: Limited Atonement, the third reformed point of salvation, but, the  . . .

III. Limited Redemption for His Elect & Unlimited Atonement for the reprobates!

      A. Acquittal / Acceptance of some sinners (the elect – I Pet. 2: 9; Rom. 9: 34) and Appeasement of His wrath to the rest (the Reprobates – II Cor. 5: 19; I Pet. 2: 8)

      B. Cleansing of sins of some sinners (the elect – I John 1: 9. 8, 10) and Covering of the rest (the (reprobates)! – I John 2: 1, 2; Rom. 9: 32

      C. Forgiveness of Sinners (the elect – Col. 3: 13; Rom. 9: 11, 23; I John 1: 9)
        and Forbearance of the sinners (the reprobates – Rom. 9: 12 – 22, 32)

Transition: Irresistible Divine Saving Grace as the fourth point is very Biblical, so, the  . . .

IV. Irresistible Saving Grace-John 3:3-8; Phil. 1:6; 2: 13,12; Acts 13: 48; Jn. 1:13,12; Jas. 1: 18

      A. The reprobates resist the Gospel, resisting the Spirit of Grace (Acts 7: 51; Rom. 11: 32)!

      B. Believing (receiving) Christ of the Gospel & repent of sin (John 1: 12, 13; I Jn. 1: 9)!

      C. Justified, being sanctified & finally glorified (Rom. 8: 1 - 4 ; I Thess. 4: 3; II Cor. 3: 18)!

Transition: We are preserved through His sovereign will – Rom. 8: 28 – 39, that the  . . .

V. Perseverance of the Saints by His Preservation – Phil. 1: 6; Rom. 8: 28 – 39; Jude 24, 25

      A. The elect ones will be deceived unless God did not shorten the last days
          before He will judge the world! - Matt. 24: 22; I Pet. 2: 17

      B. The elect will be covered and cleansed since chosen by His love, grace, and
          mercy - Psa. 23: 5; Rom. 9: 23; Eph. 1: 13 - 7

      C. The elect are secured for God is faithful to His Covenantal love and power in His Divine Sovereignty! – Heb. 8: 12; Heb. 10: 14 – 25

Transition: Reformed Catholic Church (‘Ecclesia Reformata Semper Reformanda Est’) keeps on reforming, thus her six point, the  . . .

VI. Spiritual Unity in Individual Diversity / Individual Diversity in Spiritual Unity

      A. Unity in the Father for our Reconciliation to Him (II Cor. 5: 19) in Holiness (Eph. 1: 4b)!
          1. By His grace and Mercy (Eph. 2: 5 – 9; Ti. 2: 10 – 14: 3: 5)!

          2. In spite of diversity in our nationality (Gal. 3: 25 – 29)!

      B. Unity in the Son by Redemption (Rom. 3: 24) in Love (I JN. 3: 2, 3)!
          1. By His Shed Blood & Resurrection (Heb. 9: 22; I Cor. 15)!

          2. In spite of diversity in our maturity (Rom. 14)!

      C. Unity in the Spirit thru Regeneration (Ti. 3: 5b) in Faithfulness (Jn. 15: 10; I Jn.5. 1-5)!
          1. By His In-working & Sealing (I Cor. 12 – 14; II Cor. 3: 17, 18)!

          2. In spite of diversity in our personality (I Cor. 9: 19 – 25)!

Concluding Summary:
The Biblically modified ‘T U L I P S’ is  . . .
Our Total (not absolute) Depravity or Inability to return to God in/by ourselves!

The Unconditional Divine Election, not our conditional choice for salvation!

The Limited Redemption for us & the Unlimited Atonement for us, all sinners!

The Irresistible Saving Grace of God for us, His elect!

Our Perseverance due to His Preservation!

Our Spiritual Unity in Individual Diversity / Individual Diversity in Spiritual Unity!

Personal Question:
Is our salvation secured in God or not, & due to us? – Ti. 1: 3

Are we assured of the cleansing by His shed blood? – Heb. 9: 22

Who is more powerful, God or Satan? – Ju. 24, 25

Do or can we resist God? – Rom. 9: 15, 20

Do we preserve our salvation by ourselves or by God? – Eph. 2: 10; II Tim.. 1: 12

Are we aware of spirituality & individuality God, condemning sin but nor the sinners?

Personal Appeals / Commitments:
Let us believe in God & in our Lord and Savior Christ for our salvation – Acts 4: 12

Let us make our calling and election sure!-II Pet. 1: 10, 5 – 9, 11

Let us humble ourselves before God!-I Pet. 5: 7

Let us not grieve and quench the Spirit!-Eph. 4: 30; I Thess. 5: 19

Let us be proud, praising and glorifying God!-I Cor. 1: 29-31; I Cor. 10: 31

Let’s be ecumenical in spirit, not ecumenistic (of One World Church from World Council of Churches), neither interdenominationalistic / compromising (of International Council of Christian Churches), nor emotionalistic (of Charismatic / Signs and Wonders/Prosperity-
Gospel Churches!

Let’s be true Christians condemning sin, heresies, and apostasies, not sinners to Hell / Lake of Fire! Let’s make Disciples by preaching the Gospel in evangelization enlisting them to Biblical Churches and edifying them into Christ-likeness!

SATURDAY is Sunday's Secret

SATURDAYS are for SUNDAYS.
All Days are for The Celebration!! The Gathering !!

BATTLES are won during TRAINING.

The Concept:
"Battles are won during TRAINING.

  • Hidden Preparation
  • Public victories are the result of private discipline
  • What you do in secret determines how you stand in public.
  • The Secret Place.
  • God trains us in isolation before He uses us in public.
  • David was anointed king but sent back to the sheep pastures (1 Samuel 16). He fought the lion and the bear where nobody was watching.
  • The Purpose of Routine.
  • Training camp is boring, repetitive, and exhausting. Spiritual disciplines (prayer, fasting, studying scripture) build the muscle memory required for the spiritual battle.
  • Jesus frequently withdrew to lonely places to pray before facing the crowds and demonic opposition (Luke 5:16).

There is a DANGER called:
The Peril of Premature Promotion.

Standing on a battlefield without going through training camp leads to casualties.

We must trust God's timeline for preparation.

NOTE:  The armor of Saul didn't fit David because David hadn't tested it; he used the tools he had practiced with (1 Samuel 17:39).

MORE IDEAS // ILLUSTRATIONS:

The Master Weaver:
A tapestry looks messy and tangled from underneath while it is being woven. Training camp feels chaotic, restrictive, and painful, but the Designer is weaving a masterpiece of character that can withstand the weight of your calling.

The Boxer’s Roadwork:
Boxers say, "You don't win the fight in the ring; you just get your hand raised there." The fight is won at 4:00 AM on lonely roads in the freezing cold. Your spiritual victory over temptation or trials isn't won at the moment of crisis; it's won in your daily, quiet time with God.

The Bamboo Tree:
The Chinese bamboo tree spends five years growing its roots underground, showing no visible growth above the surface. In the fifth year, it shoots up 80 feet in six weeks. Training camp is your rooting season. Without deep roots, you will topple when the storm hits.

From Praise to POWER: October 2026 series

Powerful Praise in Small Groups

FROM PRAISE
TO POWER
When Praise Becomes an Act of Faith

MAIN VERSE

2 CHRONICLES 20:22 ESV
"And when they began to sing and praise, the LORD set an ambush against the men of Ammon,
Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed."

SERIES OVERVIEW

Life puts us in battles we never expected.
Some seasons bring heavy pressure, an uncertain
future, and problems too big to handle. We pray, plan, and work, yet some battles remain beyond
our control. What do we do when we don't know what to do?

That is where the story of 2 Chronicles 20 meets us.
A powerful enemy surrounded Judah. Jehoshaphat did not pretend that the situation was easy.
He openly admitted, “We do not know what to do.” But he immediately added, “Our eyes are
on you.” That is the turning point. They could not change the situation immediately, but they
could choose where to look.

Such is the essence of our OCTOBER SERIES,
From Praise to Power.

This 4-week series
explores how biblical praise shapes our perspective, strengthens our faith, and teaches us to trust God in situations beyond our control. It takes the congregation on a spiritual journey from fear to faith, from crisis to confidence, and from battle to breakthrough.

Sometimes we think we need to see the breakthrough before we praise. But faith often works the opposite way: we praise while we wait, worship while we hurt, and trust while still
uncertain. There will be battles we cannot control, answers we cannot predict, and seasons when
we do not know what to do. But we can always choose where to fix our eyes.

And when our eyes are fixed on God, our praise becomes a declaration of faith.

Choir Before The Battle

WEEKLY TOPIC | SYNOPSIS | EMPHASIS

WEEK ONE | OCTOBER 04, 2026
BIRTHDAY SUNDAY

TOPIC:
PRAISE BEFORE THE VICTORY

VERSE:
2 CHRONICLES 20:22a
And when they began…

Judah faced a battle bigger than their strength, but God had already given them His promise: “The
battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).

Their response was not to wait for victory
before worshiping. They began to praise while the battle was still before them.

This is a wonderful lesson for us all today because we usually praise God after something good
has happened. We thank Him when prayers are answered, when problems are solved, or when
the breakthrough finally arrives. But Judah shows us something else. They praised God while the
enemy was still standing before them. Their praise was an act of faith. They did not yet have the
victory in their hands, but they trusted the God who would give them sure victory. Sometimes God
calls us to praise Him before we see what He will do.

3 Key Points
Praise God before we see the answer.
Praise God even when things still seem impossible.
Praise because God is worthy, no matter the outcome.

WEEK TWO | OCTOBER 11, 2026
COMMUNION SUNDAY

TOPIC: PRAISE IN THE BATTLE

VERSE:
2 CHRONICLES 20:22b
to sing and praise, the LORD…

Judah was standing in the middle of a battle they could not win by their own strength. The enemy
was real, the danger was immediate, and the outcome was uncertain. Yet in that moment, they
chose to sing and praise the LORD. They did not postpone worship until the battle was over;
they responded while the battle was still happening.

Praise in the Battle reminds us that worship is not an escape from reality; it is a way of facing
reality with our eyes fixed on God. We may not control the battle around us, but we can choose
what fills our hearts and what comes from our mouths. Worship does not always change our
situation right away, but it does change how we see it. When we praise, we stop letting our
problems seem bigger than our God. When fear says, “Look at the enemy,” praise says, “Look at
the LORD.”

3 Key Points
Praise takes our focus off the problem.
Praise reminds us of who God is.
Praise gives us courage to face what is coming.

WEEK THREE | OCTOBER 18, 2026
DLG & DIVINITY SUNDAY

TOPIC:
PRAISE BECOMES POWER

VERSE:
2 CHRONICLES 20:22c
the LORD set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah

Judah entered a battle they could not win through human strength, but they discovered that their
greatest response was not fear—it was faith expressed through praise. As they began to sing and praise the LORD, God intervened and turned the battle against their enemies.

The movement in the passage is significant: Judah praised, and God acted. Their praise was
not a magical formula that forced God to respond. It expressed faith in the God who had already
declared that the battle belonged to Him. Their worship demonstrated that they were willing to
trust God's power rather than depend on their own strength.

This message speaks to us today because worship sometimes comes easily, and sometimes it
costs us something. We cannot avoid every battle, but we can choose how we respond in the
midst of them. Worship reminds us that fear does not have to rule us, circumstances do not have
to silence us, and the battle does not have to take away our devotion to God.

3 Key Points
Do not let the battle quiet your praise.
Do not let fear speak louder than your faith.
Keep worshiping as you wait for God to move.

WEEK FOUR | OCTOBER 25, 2026

TOPIC: PRAISE LEADS TO VICTORY

VERSE:
2 CHRONICLES 20:22d
so that they were routed.

The story of Judah reaches a turning point when God intervenes against the enemies who came
to destroy them. After seeking God, trusting His promise, and responding with praise, Judah
witnessed God's power at work: “And they were rerouted.”

The victory was not the result of Judah's military strength or strategy. God fought for His
people. Their praise expressed trust, while the enemy's defeat was God's work. What Judah
could not accomplish through human strength, God accomplished through His sovereign power. Praise Leads to Victory calls us to remain faithful when the battle is difficult, and the outcome is unseen.

We are called to praise before the breakthrough, trust God during the struggle, and
recognize that every victory ultimately belongs to Him.

The enemy's defeat was not Judah's achievement—it was God's intervention. Their part was
faith, worship, and obedience; God's part was the battle and the victory.

3 Key Points
Praise puts the battle in God's hands.
Praise declares that God is greater than our enemy.
Praise gets us ready to see God's power.

STUDY NOTES

Historical Context: 2 Chronicles 20 records a major crisis during the reign of King Jehoshaphat
of Judah. A large coalition of Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites came against Judah.

Jehoshaphat responded not first with military strategy, but by seeking the Lord through prayer
and fasting. The people were reminded that the battle belonged to God (2 Chronicles 20:15).
Rather than placing soldiers at the front of the army, Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go before
the army, declaring God's steadfast love (20:21). As they began to sing and praise, God acted
against the enemy (20:22). The passage therefore presents praise not as entertainment or
emotional expression, but as a faith-filled response to God's character and promise.

Immediate Context: Chronicles 20:22 must be understood within the larger story of Judah's
crisis, Jehoshaphat's prayer, God's promise, and the people's response of worship. The verse is
the climax of a sequence in which Judah moves from fear to prayer, from prayer to faith, and from
faith to praise.

1.
The Threat — 20:1–4.
A large military force from Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir came against
Judah. Jehoshaphat became afraid, but he responded by seeking the LORD and calling the nation to fast.

2.
The Prayer — 20:5–12.
Jehoshaphat gathered the people and prayed. He remembered God's
sovereignty and faithfulness and acknowledged Judah's inability to defeat the enemy: “We do not
know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” — 20:12

3.
The Promise — 20:13–17.
God responded through Jahaziel and assured Judah: “The battle is not yours, but God’s.” — 20:15. God instructed them to take their position, stand firm, and watch His deliverance.

4.
The Response — 20:18–21.
Jehoshaphat and the people bowed before the LORD in worship.
The Levites then praised God, and Jehoshaphat encouraged the people to believe in God and
His prophets.. The singers were appointed to go before the army, praising the LORD for His
enduring love.

5. The Turning Point — 20:22.
This leads directly to the verse: “As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes…” The people praised, but the LORD acted. The verse emphasizes God's intervention rather than presenting praise as a mechanism that forces God to act.

6.
The Result — 20:23–30.
The invading armies turned against one another and were defeated. Judah did not have to win the battle through military strength. They gathered the plunder, returned to Jerusalem rejoicing, and continued praising God. The chapter concludes by emphasizing that the LORD gave them rest from their enemies (20:30).

Verse Structure:
“As they began…” The phrase emphasizes the beginning of their response.

They did not wait until the battle was finished before worshiping. “…to sing and praise…” Their
response was worship directed toward the LORD. Their praise was rooted in God's character and steadfast love rather than in circumstances that had already improved. The subject of the decisive
action is the LORD. Judah praised, but God fought.
“…and they were rerouted.” The enemies were defeated because God intervened on Judah's
behalf.

THEOLOGICAL MESSAGE:
The central message of the passage is not simply “praise and you will get victory.” The deeper message is: Trust God when the battle is beyond your control, worship Him while you wait, and recognize that the outcome ultimately belongs to Him.
The passage emphasizes: God's sovereignty, God's faithfulness, Human dependence, Faith
expressed through worship, and God's power to deliver.

THEOLOGY OF PRAISE:
Biblical praise is more than singing.
It is a response to who God is and
what God has done. In 2 Chronicles 20, praise is connected with God's steadfast love, His
covenant faithfulness, His sovereignty, and His ability to deliver His people.

Therefore: Praise is not manipulation.
We do not praise God to force Him to act. Praise is not denial. We do not pretend the problem does not exist. Praise is not a formula. We do not
assume that worship guarantees the particular outcome we want. Praise is faith expressed
through worship. We acknowledge that God is worthy and trustworthy regardless of what happens next.

RELEVANCE TO MODERN TIMES:
We still face battles that are bigger than our strength.

Modern believers face financial pressure, family problems, uncertainty, opposition, and personal
struggles that remind us that we cannot control everything.

1.
Praise can redirect our focus from the problem to God. Like Judah, we can choose to worship even when circumstances have not changed, because God remains faithful in the middle of the battle.

2.
Faith means trusting God before we see the outcome. Praise becomes an expression of confidence that God is present and working even when His answer is not yet visible.

3.
We must avoid treating praise as a formula for getting what we want. The passage does not teach that praise manipulates God; rather, it teaches us to surrender the battle and trust God's sovereignty.

4.
Our worship becomes a testimony to others. When people see believers responding to difficult circumstances with faith, peace, and worship, they see a practical witness to
the reality of trusting God.

Psalm 144

21st Century King James Version
144 Blessed be the Lord my strength, who teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight;

2 my goodness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and He in whom I trust, who subdueth my people under me.

3 Lord, what is man that Thou takest notice of him? Or the son of man that Thou makest account of him?

4 Man is like vanity; his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

5 Bow Thy heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

6 Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out Thine arrows and destroy them.

7 Send Thine hand from above; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters from the hand of strangers,

8 whose mouth speaketh vanity and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9 I will sing a new song unto Thee, O God; upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto Thee.

10 It is He that giveth salvation unto kings, who delivereth David His servant from the hurtful sword.

11 Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of strangers, whose mouth speaketh vanity and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood,

12 that our sons may be as plants full grown in their youth, that our daughters may be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace;

13 that our garners may be full, affording all manner of store, that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets;

14 that our oxen may be strong to labor, that there be no breaking in, nor going out, that there be no complaining in our streets.

15 Happy is that people for whom such is the case; yea, happy is that people whose God is the Lord.

Psalm 145

21st Century King James Version
145 I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.

2 Every day will I bless Thee, and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.

5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.

6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy fearsome acts, and I will declare Thy greatness.

7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and of great mercy.

9 The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

10 All Thy works shall praise Thee, O Lord, and Thy saints shall bless Thee.

11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy Kingdom and talk of Thy power,

12 to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts and the glorious majesty of His Kingdom.

13 Thy Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon Thee, and Thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.

18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.

20 The Lord preserveth all them that love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

2 Chronicles 20
 The Message

20 1-2 Some time later the Moabites and Ammonites, accompanied by Meunites, joined forces to make war on Jehoshaphat.
Jehoshaphat received this intelligence report: “A huge force is on its way from beyond the Dead Sea to fight you. There’s no time to waste—they’re already at Hazazon Tamar, the oasis of En Gedi.”

3-4 Shaken, Jehoshaphat prayed. He went to God for help and ordered a nationwide fast. The country of Judah united in seeking God’s help—they came from all the cities of Judah to pray to God.

5-9
Then Jehoshaphat took a position before the assembled people of Judah and Jerusalem at The Temple of God in front of the new courtyard and said, “O God, God of our ancestors, are you not God in heaven above and ruler of all kingdoms below? You hold all power and might in your fist—no one stands a chance against you! And didn’t you make the natives of this land leave as you brought your people Israel in, turning it over permanently to your people Israel, the descendants of Abraham your friend? They have lived here and built a holy house of worship to honor you, saying, ‘When the worst happens—whether war or flood or disease or famine—and we take our place before this Temple (we know you are personally present in this place!) and pray out our pain and trouble, we know that you will listen and give victory.’

10-12 “And now it’s happened: men from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir have shown up. You didn’t let Israel touch them when we got here at first—we detoured around them and didn’t lay a hand on them. And now they’ve come to kick us out of the country you gave us. O dear God, won’t you take care of them? We’re helpless before this vandal horde ready to attack us. We don’t know what to do; we’re looking to you.”

13 Everyone in Judah was there—little children, wives, sons—all present and attentive to God.

14-17 Then Jahaziel was moved by the Spirit of God to speak from the midst of the congregation. (Jahaziel was the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah the Levite of the Asaph clan.) He said, “Attention everyone—all of you from out of town, all you from Jerusalem, and you King Jehoshaphat—God’s word: Don’t be afraid; don’t pay any mind to this vandal horde. This is God’s war, not yours. Tomorrow you’ll go after them; see, they’re already on their way up the slopes of Ziz; you’ll meet them at the end of the ravine near the wilderness of Jeruel. You won’t have to lift a hand in this battle; just stand firm, Judah and Jerusalem, and watch God’s saving work for you take shape. Don’t be afraid, don’t waver. March out boldly tomorrow—God is with you.”

18-19 Then Jehoshaphat knelt down, bowing with his face to the ground. All Judah and Jerusalem did the same, worshiping God. The Levites (both Kohathites and Korahites) stood to their feet to praise God, the God of Israel; they praised at the top of their lungs!

20 They were up early in the morning, ready to march into the wilderness of Tekoa. As they were leaving, Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “Listen Judah and Jerusalem! Listen to what I have to say! Believe firmly in God, your God, and your lives will be firm! Believe in your prophets and you’ll come out on top!”

21 After talking it over with the people, Jehoshaphat appointed a choir for God; dressed in holy robes, they were to march ahead of the troops, singing,

Give thanks to God,
His love never quits.

22-23 As soon as they started shouting and praising, God set ambushes against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir as they were attacking Judah, and they all ended up dead. The Ammonites and Moabites mistakenly attacked those from Mount Seir and massacred them. Then, further confused, they went at each other, and all ended up killed.

24 As Judah came up over the rise, looking into the wilderness for the horde of barbarians, they looked on a killing field of dead bodies—not a living soul among them.

25-26 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to carry off the plunder they found more loot than they could carry off—equipment, clothing, valuables. It took three days to cart it away! On the fourth day they came together at the Valley of Blessing (Beracah) and blessed God (that’s how it got the name, Valley of Blessing).

27-28 Jehoshaphat then led all the men of Judah and Jerusalem back to Jerusalem—an exuberant parade. God had given them joyful relief from their enemies! They entered Jerusalem and came to The Temple of God with all the instruments of the band playing.

29-30 When the surrounding kingdoms got word that God had fought Israel’s enemies, the fear of God descended on them. Jehoshaphat heard no more from them; as long as Jehoshaphat reigned, peace reigned.

31-33 That about sums up Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah. He was thirty-five years old when he became king and ruled as king in Jerusalem for twenty-five years. His mother was Azubah daughter of Shilhi. He continued the kind of life characteristic of his father Asa—no detours, no dead-ends—pleasing God with his life. But he failed to get rid of the neighborhood sex-and-religion shrines—people continued to pray and worship at these idolatrous god shops.

34 The rest of Jehoshaphat’s life, from start to finish, is written in the memoirs of Jehu son of Hanani, which are included in the Royal Annals of Israel’s Kings.

35-37 Late in life Jehoshaphat formed a trading syndicate with Ahaziah king of Israel—which was very wrong of him to do. He went in as partner with him to build ocean-going ships at Ezion Geber to trade with Tarshish. Eliezer son of Dodavahu of Mareshah preached against Jehoshaphat’s venture: “Because you joined forces with Ahaziah, God has shipwrecked your work.” The ships were smashed and nothing ever came of the trade partnership.

VERSES in the BIBLE regarding TEAM / TEAMWORK:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12: “Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him. If it’s cold, two can sleep together and stay warm but how can you keep warm by yourself. Two men can resist an attack that would defeat one man alone. A rope of three cords is hard to break.” (TEV)

Nehemiah 4: When the Israelites were rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem, the work got tough and they got discouraged. Finally, they just gave up. So Nehemiah reorganized the work into teams. Half would stand guard with their spears and swords and protect everyone. The other half would work. Then they’d alternate their positions. He posted everyone by groups and families, so they could encourage and support each other.

Mark 6:7:  When Jesus sent people out in ministry; he sent them out in twos. Ministry is designed to be a work of a TEAM.

Acts 24: Paul specifically mentions seven people who were part of his ministry team. He brought others along, not only to train them, but also to keep him encouraged.
